Inked Yarn is the passion project of Deshnee Naidoo, a 30-something-year-old who’s figured out that she wants to work with books and words for the rest of her life.
I have had quite a few jobs over the years, many of which have been in the media industry as a journalist, copy editor, freelance magazine writer, and blog writer for digital marketing agencies. I am currently working in secondary/high school education as a proofreader. I have also edited/proofread paranormal romance fiction for a ghostwriting company in South Africa.
All these jobs have had one major thing in common – words! So many words to read, to write, to fix – and I’ve loved every second of it. Truly.
With Inked Yarn, I aim to showcase my own short stories, poetry, and flash fiction. I still have a huge learning curve to overcome so please join in on my fledgling journey with any tips or advice you may have – you can even write a guest post for the blog!
I also publish book reviews, film reviews, and personal essays that are relevant to the writing and arts world. I love a good story but my favourite book genres are fantasy, romance, paranormal fiction, and cozy mysteries. Even better if there’s a mash-up of them all.
That’s about it for now but I’ll be sure to update this page as soon as anything changes.
P.S. I mostly write in UK/South African English so if it looks like a spelling error, it probably isn’t.
